:> Earlier today at Philadelphia Community Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Roy E. Clay presided over overflowing pews during an open-community funeral service for 17-year-old Portlander Quanice Hayes.
Quanice Hayes, known by family and friends as “Moose”, was murdered by Portland Police Bureau’s Andrew Hearst on February 9th of this year.
Earlier this week a grand jury found that officer Hearst’s use of force was justified.
This is in spite of the widespread doubts expressed about the veracity of the police report’s details.
Quanice Hayes’s family and racial justice activists with local organization “Don’t Shoot Portland” have expressed that, aside from being an African American male in unfavorable economic circumstances, Hayes posed no imminent threat to the officer’s life.
