PhD Mowgli Holmes speaks with host Paul O'Brien

Cannabis is the most genetically diverse plant in the world. But how has it evolved as a species, and how has it has co-evolved with humans? How has domestication changed the marijuana plant? Understanding today’s crazy mix of hybrid strains, why they’re so different, and what makes each one unique is a huge undertaking. Our guest today believes that increased genetic knowledge about cannabis will transform how people relate to this plant. Mowgli Holmes, PHD, is Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Phylos Bioscience, a cannabis genomics company based in Portland, Oregon. Mowgli is a molecular and evolutionary biologist. He has a PhD from Columbia University, where he was a National Research Service Award Fellow. He is a founding board member of the Cannabis Safety Institute and the Open Cannabis Project, and is Chair of the Oregon State Cannabis Research Task Force.
