Leigh Brasington has been practicing meditation since 1985 and is the senior American student of the late Venerable Ayya Khema. She confirmed his practice and requested that he begin teaching. Leigh assisted Venerable Ayya Khema starting in 1994, and has been leading retreats on his own since 1997 in both Europe and North America.

A video was released last week portraying Denver police Officers beating a gay couple without apparent provocation. In response, members of Denver's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) community joined in calls for a zero tolerance policy on excessive force violations and demanded the termination of the offending officers.
