Works produced by artists-in-residence at KBOO
Listen to the pieces produced through KBOO's Artist in Residence program.

The goals of the KBOO Artist Support Program are to support and invest in individuals who are pushing themselves artistically using sound, whose work will impact the cultural landscape of Portland, and to bring those artists into the dynamic KBOO community of local, national, and international artists and activists.

From 11:30 - Noon, we'll hear from Tessie Word, the 2014 KBOO Artist in Residence. She created the sound piece "Convergence"  during her residency.

Convergence is an audio documentary and sonic art work that examines the historical, environmental, and sociological ramifications of living in an imminent ecological disaster area: the tsunami zones of the Oregon Coast near the mouth of the Columbia River. Through the use of phonographic recordings, radio transmissions, and original music, Convergence explores and interprets the cultural implications and the psychic terrain of daily life in the tsunami zone.

From Noon -1pm we'll hear an interview and live performances from Marisa Anderson, the first KBOO Artist in Residence, in 2013.

Marisa's residency at KBOO was about delving into songs in our public domain. She recorded her album "Tradtional and Public Domain Songs" released by Grapefruit Records during her residency.

Applications for the 2015 Artist in Residence are due by 5 pm today - 2/13!
