On the Noontime Jamboree with host Retta Christie
Monday, October 6th,
12 - 2 pm

Host Retta Christie is joined in the studio by local filmmaker Beth Herrington.  Beth will be talking about her most recent film, The Winding Stream.   It will be screening at this year's Reel Music Film Festival run by the Northwest Film Center on October 11, at 7 PM at the Whitsell Auditorium.  We will have tickets to this screening to give away.

The Winding Stream is the story of the family at the heart of Americana music - the Carters and the Cashes. It is the first film to connect the dots between the original foundational trio of country music - the Carter Family - Sara, AP and Maybelle and the generations of musicians that followed in their rootsy footsteps. Most notably, it depicts the link between the family and the legendary Johnny Cash who upheld and promoted the Carter legacy his entire career. It has been receiving great reviews in major publications including getting Rolling Stone's nod as one of the Top 10 Best of Fest Music Films at SXSW:

Variety says it's "impressively researched and deftly crafted..."

Billboard says it's “Informative and provocative…”

The Boston Globe calls it a "crowd pleaser..."

And the Hollywood Reporter says it has “..enough drama, music and history to fuel a miniseries ... [a] thoroughly entertaining and comprehensive account of the Carter and Cash families and their enduring contributions to American music..."

The film premiered at this year's SXSW Festival and has screened at festivals from Lincoln Center in NYC to Kosovo, Lisbon and London.
