Portland Police Target Black Hip Hop Performers & Right 2 Dream 2

Last Saturday, Blue Monk’s Blues nightclub was overwhelmed with Portland Police and Portland Gang Enforcement officers because the Police stated one of the performers was a known gang member and police expected a large gang presence at the event. Did Portland Police create the problem they say they were there to fix? Portland Police have told a variety of different stories to justify their actions, yet there is a consistent theme when a venue attracts young African American club goers. Is this a racist practice? What is a gang member? Join us for the ½ half of Thu’s program for this conversation! Join Ibriam Mabarak and Lisa Fay from Right 2 Dream 2 tomorrow on Voices from the Edge as we discuss Portland Police new program that targets houseless-community members for enhanced police actions for the 2nd half of tomorrow’s Program. Why are Portland Police working collaboratively with private security guards to picture, exclude, and criminalize persons who are houseless? What is Portland City Council’s response? How can the community help? Join us for this important conversation by calling in at 503-231-8187.
