Interview with Jose Serrica regarding the houseless community and Portland Police

Join Jose Serrica and I as we discuss recent experiences of houseless community members with Portland Police. Whether it was the ill fated Prosper Portland proposal which targets houseless people for enhance police action leading to criminal arrest and convictions (also know as the Chronic Offender Pilot Project or COPP or the strong arming downtown business owners into using illegal equipment to record drivers license information to create a data base accessible to Portland Police, developed for free by Thetus, a defense contractor.  Why would they work for Portland Police for free?

I cringe when I hear Chief Reese says Portland Police Bureau has experience a cultural shift as if just saying it makes it so?  Where is the proof?  Many community members are not experiencing that cultural shift in fact it appears Portland Police is moving backward rather than forward.  How will the community know when true reform has occurred?  Is the Mayor aware and in support of the above failed efforts?  How is the police chief being evaluated?

Jose Serrica is a houseless advocate who is interviewing houseless people throughout Portland.  Let's hear directly from the houseless community if the pattern an practices of behavior identified by the DOJ have changed since Dec 2011 when the findings were released and Chief Reese started working on reform.

Power point presentations presented by the City of Portland would lead you to believe Chief Reese has fixed 80% of the failures the DOJ identified and recommended reforms.
