The state of Indiana held its election primary today, amidst allegations of voter disenfranchisement. Last week the US Supreme Court upheld Indiana's voter ID requirements, which are the strictest in the nation. Election observation groups in Indiana have noted that a large number of students and young people have been turned away from the polls for not presenting an Indiana state drivers license as ID. Indiana's voter ID law has been widely criticized for preventing eligible voters from being allowed to cast their ballot. There has never been a case of voter fraud by voters in Indiana, but Republican lawmakers pushed hard for the ID requirements, which mainly affect Democratic voters.
