Portland’s Rebuilding Center may be diverting eight tons of building and remodeling materials a day but Executive Director Shane Endicott is the first to admit that the used building materials supplier--which serves 300 people a day--only exists to fund an entirely different organization--Our United Villages.

In this January 12, 2011 interview, KBOO’s environmental reporter, Jacob Anderson-Minshall speaks with Endicott about the founding of Rebuilding Center, its work, and how other communities can create similar initiatives.
