The US Congressman for Roseburg Oregon, Peter DeFazio, is among the leaders of a Congressional effort to save social security for future generations. The plan that he proposed on Tuesday, along with Vermont congressman Bernie Sanders, is quite simple. People who make more than two hundred fifty thousand dollars a year will be required to pay social security taxes. Currently, the people in the highest tax bracket – the top six percent – are exempted from paying social security taxes.
