Chris Hedges new book Empire of Illusion: The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle argues that we are now living in a dichotomous society split between the literate minority, a group able to see past illusion towards truth, and the other, a majority "retreating from from a reality-based world into one of false certainty and magic."  Marianne Barisonek speaks with the Pulitzer Prize winner about his work.
