Attorney General Dismissed from Foreclosure Committee

program:
Evening News
program date:
Thu, 08/25/2011

New York’s Attorney General Eric Schneiderman was abruptly dismissed from a fifty-state committee overseeing foreclosure settlement negotiations with big banks. Iowa’s Attorney General, the leader of the negotiations, dismissed Mr. Schneiderman on the grounds that he’d actively worked to undermine the committee’s work. His dismissal has left some wondering whether banks will truly be held responsible for wrongdoing towards homeowners in the foreclosure settlment to come.

Today, KBOO’s Jenn Chavez spoke about these issues with Liz Ryan Murray, policy director of National People’s Action and member of the New Bottom Line Campaign.
