At the end of November, there is a week held aside for Carnivalesque Rebellion, which features Buy Nothing Day.  This is an international week of resistance to the corporate culture that would have us all on hamster wheels.  This is a week wherein all people are encouraged to reclaim their lives, dream big, and create action that supports a new way of engaging with one's life.

In his book, Hendricks explores the 2003 kidnapping of Abu Oman from a street in Milan.  An act which resulted in the first trial of CIA officers by a U.S. ally.

So we've made it around the Sun, one more time.  The longest night of the year comes next week-- Winter Solstice is Tuesday, the 21st, with the Sun going into Capricorn at 3:38 PM, Pacific Time. 

This is one of the eight turning points of the pagan year.  The last was Samhain, more commonly known as Halloween.  At that time, the old year dies... the earth lies almost at rest around us for six weeks.  Now, at Winter Solstice, it is reborn.

In this time, all posibilities exist as we dive deep into the void to find our visions, and make them manifest.  In this longest night, we can access our subconscious selves, our dreams, and we can face our shadow selves.  In these things lay our personal power.

2011, a year in review..... Ani and Lyn review the last seven days.  We think it's been a weird, and busy, first week of the year.  What's taken your attention this week?  Our discussion of topics included, but was not limited to:

And why have we put up with this for so long?

What did you do on your summer vacation?  Ani accompanied her partner to Buenos Aires, Argentina, for a little medical tourism.  She wandered a city rich in street art and protests, and is left with the nagging question, "What can we do to bring people in the US out of alienation and apathy?"
