THREE DEAD PRINCES: An excerpt
May 14, 2012
The heat of the day makes me want to hide out inside and do some editing in the air conditioned luxury of Studio 2, here at KBOO Community Radio in Portland. I am editing the audio book Three Dead Princes, that we recorded in the cold and rainy part of the Spring.
The book is Three Dead Princes, a fairytale by Danbert Nobacon, founding member of the band Chumbawamba. The book was published by Exterminating Angel Press in October, 2010. On October 4th, 2010 Danbert was reading at the Powell’s on Hawthorne, and a few of us KBOO folks went to the event. During the QandA, an audience member asked about plans for an audiobook, of which there were none. “That’s what we do!” came a silent chorus of KBOO people, and so we worked on making it happen! Between coordinating with publisher Tod Davies, Danbert, and getting a grant from the Regional Arts and Culture Council, months past, paths were made through untrodden woods and fields, and we began the project in earnest in February, 2012.

An Interview with KELLY CARLIN
Through storytelling, classic video footage, and family memorabilia, Kelly Carlin, the only child of iconoclastic comedian George Carlin, chronicles over 40 years of her life with her famous father. A funny, poignant and honest look at the man who not only redefined 20th century comedy, but inspired generations of comedy fans with such classic routines as Hippie Dippie Weatherman, Class Clown, The Seven Dirty Words, A Place for Your Stuff, and Modern Man. Kelly reveals what it was like to be swept up into the life and career of her father from his early days as a straight comic through his transformation into a counter culture hero and iconoclastic social commentator to the very last days of his life.
KBOO's Kate McCourt interviewed Kelly Carlin on Monday May 7th about her upcoming performances in Portland, this Sunday at the Alberta Rose Theatre, and on Live Wire Radio.
