Counterspin

CounterSpin provides a critical examination of the major stories every week, and exposes what the mainstream media might have missed in their own coverage. Combining lively discussion and a thoughtful media critique, CounterSpin is unlike any other show on the dial.

CounterSpin exposes and highlights biased and inaccurate news; censored stories; sexism, racism and homophobia in the news; the power of corporate influence; gaffes and goofs by leading TV pundits; TV news' narrow political spectrum; attacks on free speech; and more.

Pacific Center for Global Justice announces Fall seminar series

Contact: Rose Gerber Phone: (617) 999-3689 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE E-mail: thepacificcenter@gmail.com www.pcgj.org THE PACIFIC CENTER FOR GLOBAL JUSTICE OFFERS FALL SEMINARS Engage with Portland’s social justice community while discovering new and effective ways for approaching social justice work The Pacific Center for Global Justice CAA Seminars are a great way to learn about and address issues of social justice while engaging with peers and experienced facilitators in a community learning environment. The Pacific Center for Global Justice will be offering two seminars in the fall for anyone interested in engaging in issues of social justice. The courses are taught using a three-fold holistic approach to issues of social justice, addressing the importance of contemplation, analysis and action (CAA) in any social justice work. The first course will focus on Militarism, exploring the roots, early and current history of militarism, and the major components of the military industrial complex. The second course is called Four Engagements and explores how can we more effectively go about working for justice, both locally and on a vast scale. Whether you are an active member in the fight for social justice, or would like to be more engaged, these seminars are an effective way to challenge your thinking around social justice and inspire new productive ways for affecting social change. This year the seminars will be held at the Cedarwood Waldorf School at 3030 Southwest 2nd Avenue Portland, OR 97201. Please visit our website http://www.pcgj.org to learn more and sign up for the seminars. Courses can be taken separately or together, since they will be offered on different nights. Seminars are between $100-120 for the each 4-5 part series. Scholarships are available for veterans.
