We would love your help with our Spring Membership Drive!

Hello, my name is Ani, and I'm the volunteer coordinator with KBOO.

KBOO is starting our Spring Membership Drive, Thursday, May 3rd, our goal is to raise $75,000!

This is hugely important because KBOO's ability to remain a vibrant independent source for news, music, community information, and art absolutely relies on listener support. There are a number of roles for volunteers, and I’d love to talk with you further about how you’d like to participate!

Hi.  I'm Ani, KBOO's Volunteer Coordinator, and I'd love to talk with you about volunteering.

Between February 2nd and the 18th, we are raising $100,000 for KBOO during out Winter Membership Drive! This is hugely important because KBOO's ability to remain a vibrant independent source for news, music, community information, and art absolutely relies on listener support.  Over 80% of KBOO's funding comes from our listeners, and most of that comes to KBOO through the on-air membership drives.  We have over six-hundred shifts to fill during the drive, so we really need everyone's support to make the drive a success.  There are a number of roles for volunteers, and I’d love to talk with you further about how you’d like to participate!

Let's warm up this cold month with a little social time.

The KBOO Staff invite you to join us for a festive evening of holiday merriment!
Hot spiced cider, cookies, and snacks will be provided by KBOO.  Additionally, we encourage people to bring treats to share, too.

Volunteer to help make our membership drive successful!

Have you wondered what volunteering at KBOO is like?  Do you want to get more involved with your community radio station?  This is your time! KBOO’s Fall Membership Drive begins Thursday, October 6th, and runs through Saturday, October 22nd.

KBOO’s existence depends on membership drives as more than 80% of our funding comes from our listeners—this is, in part, what allows KBOO to be so independent and unique. We ask that all current volunteers at KBOO help with the drive, as we have more than 600 shifts to fill! With shifts available seven days a week, generally spanning the hours of 6 AM to 11 PM, there are shifts to fit anyone’s schedule.

Please help us with the Annual Book and Record Sale!

The Annual Book and Record Sale is a wonderfully fun community event that raises a few thousand dollars for KBOO.  We are in the midst of preparing the books, CDs, DVDs, vinyl, VHS tapes and the like for the sale, and would love to have your help!

We also need help in picking up donated goods, and in helping to take the donations to our storage site, which helps to keep our studios free to make radio.

Food Safety in a Post-Fukushima World

Here's a link to an article I just wrote for OpEd news. We need to push for better testing of food for radiation contamination.

KBOO MURAL PHOTOS!

Artist Kevin Fitzpatrick worked with RACC and close to 60 community and staff volunteers on the KBOO Community Radio mural project. The mural adds color, energy and style to the building and the street.  Swing by on bike, foot or vehicle, check out the mural and visit KBOO!

Volunteer Holiday Party / Open House this Saturday, Dec. 18th

We work hard together, so I'm very much hoping that you will be able to socialize, and share in some fun, too.  We will have refreshments, and the best company you could hope for! Please feel free to bring guests, and show off our station.

You are so important to KBOO-- we would not exist without our volunteers.  It would be great to see you convivializing for the afternoon... no hidden agenda, surprise surveys, or shifts to sign up for... just a little afternoon at year's end, so that KBOO can give back a little to the people who do so very much.

Just who is steering this ship, anyways?

For much of this year, KBOO has operated without a Station Manager. In keeping with KBOO’s tradition of trying innovative ideas to address challenges, the board accepted a proposal by the staff to give collective management a trial run.
